Monday Class Canceled

Due to the expected weather event, Monday evening’s Learn to Umpire – New Candidates class is canceled. The next class will be Thursday at 7pm at Barnstable High School

Hot Stove Night Feb. 17th

hot stoveThe Cape Cod Baseball Umpires Association will host a mid-winter Hot Stove Night session on February 17th from 6:30 to 9pm at the Barnstable Police Department. The evening will include a moderated discussion “What Coaches Really Think“. The panel will include St John Paul HS head coach Mark Santos, and Sean Walsh, Barnstable American Legion head coach and District 10 President.
The evening will also feature a presentation on Interference and Obstruction by Joe Peters. Joe is a former president of the South Shore Umpires Assoc. as well as the assigner for American Legion District 10 and the Cranberry League.

Registration is required by Feb. 10th as space is limited

2017 meeting dates of the Cape Cod Baseball Umpires Association. Note that meetings will be held at the Yarmouth Police Department community room:
Monday March 13, 2017   7pm YPD
Monday March 27, 2017   7pm YPD
Monday April 24, 2017   7:30pm YPD
Monday May 15, 2017   7:30pm YPD
Sunday June 4, 2017   Banquet 6pm Brazilian Grill

*There will also be an on-field (field-house) – clinic March 4th at Bourne HS

MIAA Baseball Registration and Background Check is Open

CCBUA members are encouraged to register now for the 2016 Baseball season and complete the new background check requirements with the MIAA. Registration for spring 2016 sports is open now and will close on January 1, 2016. If you are not registered, you will not be eligible for the post season tournament. Also, as stated by the MIAA, most member school conferences have requested that their assigners only use these approved officials for regular season games.

Peter Hall named 2015 James McNally recipient

In recognition of his significant contributions to the CCBUA and its members, Peter Hall has been named 2015 James McNally Award recipient.

The award is bestowed upon a CCBUA Member in good standing that exemplifies these characteristics :

  • A role model with a positive demeanor and professional attitude regarding the highest standards in officiating on and off the field.
  • One held in high esteem by his colleagues and associates.
  • An individual continually striving to develop their umpire skills and master the rules of baseball and their application impartially.
  • Unselfishly dedicates his efforts towards fellow umpires in an effort to benefit their understanding and perception of Baseball.
